Keyston Bros, San Francisco: Samuel Keyston was recruited by Main & Winchester in 1867 to manage their whip department in San Francisco, but son, James decided to open his own business that ultimately became the cornerstone for the San Francisco concern. Expanded into saddlery & harness shortly after the 1906 quake with the acquisition of competitor JC Johnson, followed by the purchase of legendary Main Winchester & Stone in ‘08 making them the largest saddlery on the West Coast. Gobbled up W Davis & Son in the early 20s, as the horse & buggy era began to decline, initiated a junior cowboy line with their highly successful Lasso m Bill label. Silver saddles, buckles and accessories filled the cash register after WWII highlighted by the acquisition of the Hermann Heiser Co in 1950.
