One of the most revered men in the state of Georgia was Bona Allen who was born near Buford, Georgia on December 27th, 1946. Bona was the son of Mr and Mrs Washington Allen both of whom were familiar with the art of tanning leather. Bona was actually chirstened “Bonaparte” but later changed his name legally to “Bona”.


Bona Allen, Buford, Georgia was established in 1873. Originally known as a tanner and manufacturer of horse collars, harness and saddlery, Bona Allen went on to become one of the biggest and most respected makers in the South.
