Originally from Sweden, Widforss moved to California in 1921 and became the “painter of the National Parks,” specializing in the Grand Canyon and Yosemite in the 1920-30s. He sold paintings via the Fred Harvey Company at the El Tovar art shop, and was an EPA artist in Arizona in the 1930s. His works are held by many important private collections throughout the world and can be viewed at the Yosemite National Park Museum and the Museum of Northern Arizona, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC and the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Cody, WY.
