Born in 1889 in Warren, Ohio, Carl moved to New York then traveled abroad to study thee masters. His lifelong study of color and form, which arose from an untiring pursuit of beauty in art and humanity, enabled him to achieve success and exhibit in Pittsburgh at The Carnegie, The Chicago Art Institute, The Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC, and the Brooklyn Museum.
