Born in Oakland, CA Long spent his childhood on a ranch in Napa, breaking wild horses. He began sketching at 15, studying in both California and Paris. He spent his adulthood teaching in the Bay Area while his illustrations were featured in Sunset Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. Long’s love for ranch life reflected in all of his work.
