Francois Koch

Artist
1944
BP: Johannesburg, So. Africa
LKL: Tucson, AZ

Following a successful career as a commercial and fine art painter in South Africa, Francois Koch arrived in the United States in 1996, planning to explore the “art scene” in Tucson. He returned to Tucson a few years later and settled permanently to paint the sublime Arizona landscape.

Koch studied commercial art in Johannesburg and worked as an illustrator for a large publishing company until 1974 when he left to devote himself to painting landscapes and wildlife. Since living in Tucson, he paints landscapes almost exclusively, imbuing them with deep emotion and expression virtually drawing views into the picture.
