Kerry Kelley

Bit/Spur Maker
BP: Weatherford, TX

Kerry grew up in Weatherford, Texas and worked eleven years in his family’s metallurgical business. That experience sparked an interest in metal, blacksmithing, and welding to go with his passion for western art and the ranching heritage of the area. The late Bill Todd, a local rancher whom Kerry helped, encouraged him to start building spurs.

Kelley admires the classic works of Ray Anderson, Adolph Bayers, Billy Klapper, and Earlon Shirley. While he has never apprenticed under any other maker, or attended any engraving schools, he has developed a high level of skill through devoted hours of hard work and practice.

With Weatherford being well known as the “Cutting Capital of the World,” it is natural that he has a huge following in the cutting horse industry. Kerry’s clientele include trainers and horsemen in all disciplines throughout the country.

Kerry’s main priority is his family. He and his wife, Wendy, are the proud parents of three lovely children. He considers himself extremely blessed that he can do something he loves for a living.
