Artist
1865-1922
BP: Austria

Austrian sculptor of Western American bronzes specializing in Indians. He traveled widely in the American West, sketching and modeling, about 1895. He returned to Vienna where his Western bronzes were cast for the American market between 1895 and 1912. Small and medium bronzes were sometimes polychromed at the foundry. It is said that there were two Kaubas, father and son, and that the son modeled the small polychromed bronzes.
