While still an art student in the early 1970s, William Scott Jennings began his career as a commercial artist. Within just a few years he was showing paintings in galleries in the Southwest. In 1981 he moved to Taos, New Mexico, where he lived for fifteen years before relocating to Sedona, Arizona. He enjoys painting plein air, feeling that nothing sharpens an artist’s skills like working on location.
One of Jenning’s most memorable experiences was his participation in the Art de Monde Japanese invitational group show that toured the major cities of Japan. He also was delighted to be featured in an episode of the PBS television series the Artist’s Workshop in 2001, which showed him producing a plein air painting.
