Started show biz as radio and band vocalist. His screen debut was in 1934, appearing in several Fox features. At Warner Bros he became the singing hero of low-budget Westerns. Played leads in many of studio’s minor dramatic features and second leads/supporting roles in major productions. Appeared in nearly 100 films at various studios in four decades career, as well as many TV programs.
