Nick Eggenhofer

Artist
1897-1985
BP: New York
LKL: Cody, WY

Nick Eggenhofer was one of the last members of the generation of western artists who came to maturity in the years following the death of Remington and Russell. Born in 1897, Nick studied at New York’s American Lithography Co while developing his fascination for Western movies with their romanticized celluloid image of cowboys and Indians. Nick pursued his passion developing a reputation for historical accuracy borne of careful research. He established a prestigious studio, illustrating hundreds of western magazines and books between the 1920s and 1940s. A member of the Cowboy Artists of America, Nick moved to Cody, WY in the 1960s where he lived and painted until his death in 1985.
