Peter Becker was born in 1848 in Germany and immigrated to the States where he learned saddle making in Iowa. Becker moved to Colorado opening a saddle shop in Colorado Springs in 1871. He was sheriff of both El Paso County and Lake County and employed such illustrious makers such as RT Frazier and WR Thompson. He moved to Leadville, CO in 1882 and went into partnership with Samuel Leonard. They also had shops in Aspen and Glenwood Springs.
