Frederick William Becker

An itinerant artist, specializing in landscapes and murals, Frederick Becker was born in South Dakota, and lived in NYC, OK City, TX, Taos (NM), and CA. He studied under Daniel Garber, Hugh Breckenridge, Philip Hale, and Emil Carlsen, becoming head of the fine Arts Department (University of Oklahoma City) and teaching at the University of New Mexico. He was the First President of the Society of Texas Artists. One of the early Taos artists, he lived with the Kit Carson family for many seasons.
